You have a positive and vibrant SPIRIT within. Yes, YOU! Perhaps you never thought about what lies underneath your surface, an internal radiance hidden. Maybe you haven’t been able to connect with the inner you but are longing to do so in order to live as your best self and experience healthier relationships.
INSPIRIT Counseling works with you to discover, and connect, with one’s internal spirit through the use of The Satir Model of Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST).
STST therapeutic process is best understood through the work of Virginia Satir and the training of Dr. John Banman. I will supportively guide your journey towards growth and wholeness as a human being as you seek to shine from within and share that with others.
What is the Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy?
Virginia Satir (1916-1988), a prominent and influential therapist, educator, writer, and trainer worldwide, came to be known as the “ grandmother of family therapy” with her warm and compassionate nature and approach towards others during the therapeutic process. A group of renown therapists and trainers, along with Satir, began to consolidate her theoretical ideas, and practice of over 30 years, into a systemized approach to therapy resulting in a book entitled “The Satir Model: Family Therapy and Beyond” from which the Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST) came to fruition.
Dr. John Banman, a long time student and colleague of Satir, is not only one of the co-authors to the aforementioned book, but is known internationally as one of the most exemplary Satir educators and therapists. Dr.Banman provides trainings on STST all over the world, sharing his expertise as a psychologist and marriage and family therapist with other mental health professionals.
It was an honor to learn directly from Dr. Banman about STST and a privilege to be able to share this experience with my clients through INSPIRIT Counseling. STST, with it’s loving and compassionate principles and practices, like that of Satir herself, guides the client on a journey of self-discovery and growth. The therapist is one of the biggest tools for STST therapy.
Below are some of the ideas behind the model that will guide our psychotherapy together:
Everyone has the potential for growth and growth happens when one experiences all inner parts of who they are.
Acceptance of all parts creates ownership of choices bringing about less internal conflict (less reactivity and more responsiveness) and therefore more inner peace = CONGRUENT EXPERIENCES.
Congruence can lead to a healthier self-esteem and connect oneself to their positive SPIRIT within.
Awareness of self brings curiosity of others and of their SPIRIT, will bring better communication, connection and expanded growth in the outer system- improved relationships. I kept the bulleted list form because these are not complete sentences and I think it is easy to read
If you are hoping to achieve inner peace and a healthier self-esteem, and in turn improve your relationship with yourself, as well as with others, I would be honored to share in this growth process alongside you.
